The Fall 2012 CCVGPG Meeting will be held on September 21, 2012, from 11 AM to 1 PM. The meeting will be held at 3938 Kimball Lane, Stockton, California. Barbequed lunch and cold drinks will be provided at no charge. This meeting will be informal, so please come in your blue jeans.
Scott Gregory, the California Geographic Information Officer , will be our guest speaker for this meeting. He will be discussing the efforts by the State of California to build a GIS data repository. (Open source software is being used to build the data repository.)
Landon Blake will give a talk on the application of the open source desktop GIS program OpenJUMP to work building GIS data for sanitary sewer districts. He will discuss the design of the GIS data model used for this work, the process used to build the data, and plug-ins for OpenJUMP being developed to support the project.
Landon Blake will discuss recent work by the CCVGPG PLSS Working Group, the CCVGPG Utility Working Group, and the CCVGPG Survey Control Working Group. He'll also moderate an open discussion on the first CCVGPG GIS classes and the topics for the next meeting.
This meeting may be worth 1.5 professional development hours. A sign-in sheet will be provided at the meeting to track attendance for those with professional development or continuing education requirements.

Stockton, California: The Spring 2012 Meeting has been sheduled for Friday, March 16, 2012. The meeting will be held at the SSJID headquarters in Ripon, California. The guest speaker will be Bruce Joffe, who will speak about the licensing of geospatial data by public agencies. Landon Blake will also speak about copyright and licensing agreements as related to geospatial data.
